Dan Kive ka Zazela, an astute Khayelitsha businessman, has defied main stream business by aligning himself with social solidarity and an alternative humane economy.
In his youth, as a scholar, Dan used all his spare time to sell confectioneries and snacks; and later acquired a camera, selling snap shots to keep him in pocket money. This self discipline and commitment stood him in good stead in later years in his retail businesses.
Having worked his way through university, and armed with a retail degree, he put all his efforts into business. This culminated in Dan being recognised in 2006 as Business Development Personality of the Year.
An activist from Khayelitsha, Dan is often called on to assist fellow businesses, and to council on social solidarity economies in his quest for a more humane economic system.
KBRadio is for Dan a dream realised, in being a means of communication to keep the community informed. He strongly believes that an informed community is a united community with a strong spirit of survival and well being.
